Sandy and I went to Grandview Middle School in Mound today to talk about public speaking. Cheryl had done this in the past and was unable to, so invited us.
Our mission was to talk about the importance of public speaking, give some ideas about constructing a great speech and give a sample icebreaker.
Sandy went first, kicking it off with a question about people's greatest fear and doing a role play to demonstrate communication skills. She gave an informative and interactive talk about the importance of public speaking and how to construct a great speech.
I gave my "Ice Breaker" speech and told some about my journey from "too shy" to public speaker.
It was a fun and growing experience (and of course, we evaluated each other). We highly recommend Toastmasters teaming up and/or supporting each other into ventures outside the Toastmasters Club. It certainly was rewarding.
