Dipping One’s Toe ….

Dipping One’s Toe ….

My experience in the world of leadership so far has been by achieving success using the age old technique, i.e., being at the right place at the right time. Such a coincidence of luck and circumstance leads one to act as a leader, most often.

Corporations often provide additional education to be a leader. The power of leadership, it seems to me, comes from being the boss. Most employees tend to follow the boss.

At Toastmasters, it is going to be a different experience. I am NOT the boss. I want to learn how to be a leader without the economic authority.

The Toastmasters International High Performance Leadership project has already gifted me with a superb guidance committee. The members of my guidance committee are Larry Everett, Shaun Jamison and Tom Schmidt. Each of them individually, and all of them collectively, provided me with invaluable counsel in our very first meeting. Surprisingly, they help me on an ongoing basis, earning my heartfelt gratitude.

Shaun is going to help me post this on our blog. Larry has given me important hints on how to include graphics in the blog. Tom has provided me with an alternate prospective on the project.

I am dipping my toe in the High Performance Leadership Project right now. On June 19, 2008, I shall jump into the High Performance Leadership Project with full gusto. I shall keep you up to date on my experiences in this blog, thanks to Shaun.

Please give me your feedback on an ongoing basis, and let me know how I can proceed in a more effective manner, as I proceed through the project.

Many thanks.

Best regards,

Ravi Bakshi, [:-D
